Tytuł wystawy Doroty Bujak odnosi się do Mitologii Ludów Syberii, którą artystka zajmuje się od lat. Zainteresowanie mitologią ma swoje źródła w historii rodzinnej – zesłania dziadka (wówczas kilkuletniego chłopca) i jego rodziny na Syberię w latach wojny. Tworząc grafiki i obrazy (cykl „czerwony”) Dorota Bujak dokonuje własnej interpretacji motywów mitologicznych, rozwija je o doświadczenia zasłyszane w opowieściach rodzinnych
i przekłada na język artystyczny. Dzieła zyskują wymiar symboliczny, uniwersalny, obrazując takie aspekty ludzkiej egzystencji jak: uwięzienie, samotność, lęk, zatracenie, uwikłanie, potrzeba wsparcia i bliskości. Temat ten rozwijają prace z drugiego cyklu prezentowanego na wystawie – „Myśl zapuszczała się tajnie w labirynty”- stworzonego w oparciu o prozę Brunona Schulza – oraz rzeźby.
Wielkie znaczenie artystka przywiązuje do działania twórczego, pracy w technice monotypii żelatynowej, który dla niej pozostaje obudowanym znaczeniami procesem.
„Pod wpływem nacisku odbijania, matryca przekształca własną materię w różnorodne pęknięcia i oderwania. Stąd na pozór błędne szczeliny są kluczem do dalszego budowania prac, świadomego wtłaczania przypadku w proces.”

Samoczynna destrukcja – pęknięcia, rozwarstwienia – będąca jednocześnie kreacją nowych jakości ujawnia się także w rzeźbach.

Dorota Bujak urodzona 1996 roku w Chorzowie, obecnie mieszka i pracuje w Częstochowie. W latach 2016 – 2021 r. studiowała grafikę w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach. W roku 2021 ukończyła studia dyplomem głównym w pracowni grafiki cyfrowej prof. Adama Romaniuka i dr Marty Pogorzelec. Debiutowała wystawą indywidualną Myśl zapuszczała się tajnie w labirynty w Galerii Rondo Sztuki, Katowice (2021), choć w wystawach zbiorowych i pokonkursowych – w Polsce i zagranicą m. in. w Japonii, Australii, Armenii oraz Rumuni brała udział od 2017 r. Uczestniczyła w m.in Ogólnopolskim Biennale Sztuki 47. Salon Zimowy, III Ogólnopolskim Konkursie Grafiki Artystycznej GRAFITEKA 2022,
IV Międzynarodowym Triennale Mediów Cyfrowych Radom, 15. Międzynarodowym Jesiennym Salonie Sztuki, 25. Międzynarodowym Wschodnim Salonie Sztuki Lublin 2020. Realizuje swoją twórczość w grafice, rzeźbie i malarstwie.

The title of Dorota Bujak’s exhibition refers to the Mythology of Siberian peoples, which has been the artist’s focus for years. Such interest stems from her family history – her grandfather, as only a toddler, was sent away with his family to Siberia during the War. Dorota Bujak’s graphic works and paintings (the “red” series) are her own interpretation of mythological themes, augmented by the experiences of her relatives, and translated into the artistic language. The works gain a symbolic, universal meaning, picturing such aspects of human existence as captivity, loneliness, anxiety, distress, confusion, as well as the need for support and intimacy. This subject is further explored in sculptures, as well as other works from the series: The Thought Delved Secretly into Labyrinths [Myśl zapuszczała się tajnie w labirynty] inspired by Bruno Schulz’s writings, also presented at the exhibition.
The artist finds the creative process immensely significant, going for the technique of gelatin monotype, which she believes to be full of meaning. “When pressed, each time the matrix leaves new, unique and unpredictable cracks and gaps. These seemingly erroneous fractures are the key to the further development of the works, conscious engagement of coincidence into the creative process.” (DB)
The involuntary destruction – cracks and gaps – which is, too, a creation of new quality, can be noticed in the sculptures.
Dorota Bujak was born in 1996 in Chorzów. Currently, she lives and works in Częstochowa. Between 2016 and 2021, she studied graphic art at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice. In 2021, she graduated and received her main diploma in computer graphics under the tutelage of Professor Adam Romaniuk and Doctor Marta Pogorzelec. In the same year, she debuted with her first solo exhibition The Thought Delved Secretly into Labyrinths [Myśl zapuszczała się tajnie w labirynty] that took place at the Rondo Sztuki Gallery in Katowice. However, since 2017, she has participated in numerous collective and post-competition exhibitions organised in Poland and abroad, e.g. in Japan, Australia, Armenia and Romania. She also took part in the Polish Nationwide Biennial of Art – the 47th Winter Art Exhibition, the 3rd Polish Nationwide Graphic Art Competition “GRAFITEKA 2022”, the 4th International Digital Media Triennial Radom, the 15th International Autumn Art Exhibition as well as the 25th International Eastern Art Exhibition Lublin 2020.
The artist expresses her creativity through graphic art, sculpting and painting.
